Industrial Infrastructure / Integrated Infrastructure Development Centers

Pursuant to Policy Measures for promoting and strengthening small, tiny and village enterprises announced on 6 th August 1991, the scheme of Integrated Infrastructure Development (IID) (including technological back up services) for small scale industries in rural/backward area has been prepared. The said Scheme has since been approved by the Government of India.

Objectives of the Scheme

  1. To set up about 50 IID Centres in backward districts/rural areas in the country excluding those districts covered under the scheme of Growth Centres.
  2. To Promote clusters of small scale and tiny units with a view to create employment opportunities and develop exports.
  3. To promote stronger linkages between agriculture and industry.
  4. To provide common service facilities and technological back-up services in the Selected Centres.
  5. Creation/ up gradation of infrastructure facilities like power, water communication etc. in the new/existing centres/industrial areas.

 Criteria for Selection of IID Centres

  • The selection of centres should be preceded by a comprehensive industrial potential survey of the area. Potentiality for small scale and tiny industries be clearly established with organic linkages between agriculture and industry.
  • The location of the centres should be close to district/block/ taluka headquarters or any other developing centres with access to the following basic facilities:-
    1. Proximity to railway stations/state highways to facilitate transport of raw material to, and finished material from the centre.
    2. Availability of water supply
    3. Proximity to adequate source of power.
    4. Telecommunication facilities.
    5. The location selected should not create any ecological imbalance by disturbing the environment.
    6. The workers in the centre should not be made to travel for more than 8-10 kms from their dwelling places
    7. The land to be made available for the purpose of IID Centres should be suitable for the centre and that the cost of the development work on the land should be least.

Activities & work items admissible

  1. Development of land/plots
  2. Construction of roads within the project area and to nearest main road/rail head.
  3. Drainage facilities
  4. Provision of water supply
  5. Power distribution network within  the industrial area
  6. Influent Treatment and disposal system
  7. Telecommunication facilities like telephone etc..
  8. Common facilities/amenities such as built up accommodation for administrative office, bank, post office, conference hall and first-aid centre.
  9. Raw material depot and marketing outlets
  10. Built-up structure for setting up common services centre including technological back up services
  11. Improving/upgrading the deficient infrastructural facilities to increase the productivity and optimum utilization of capacity in the existing centres/clusters in backward/rural areas.

Financing Pattern

The ratio of the financing pattern between GOI and the State is 2:3 of the project cost.

There are 8 IID centres are already sanctioned in the state under the scheme. They are at Jaggakhedi distt. Mandsaur, Nimrani. distt.Khargone, Nadaltola, distt. Satna, Lamtara distt. Katni, Naogaon (Bina) distt. Sagar, Pratap pura, distt. Tikamgarh, Sandiya, distt. Neemuch, Jaderua, distt. Morena.
